Our short walks in Sussex are all under 5K so all fairly easy and most are ideal for children, buggies or a relaxing stroll! We have a wide mix of walks including alongside canals, on the South Downs Way and walks around the town of Horsham. There are also some popular suggestions including the Fairy Bridge walk in Sandgate – Storrington and also a lovely circular walk around Pulborough Brooks – both are great for kids!

Newest walk – Bolney Easy Circular Walk & Cider Tap
This walk starts in Bolney, on The Street. It is a lovely walk through woodland where there is a stop at The Cider Tap half way around. It is a very flat and easy walk with a number of stiles.
3.7km – 2.3 miles
This walk starts just South of Washington and takes you on a circular loop up to Chanctonbury Ring, where there are breathtaking views for miles over Sussex, before heading back down through woodland.
4.6km – 2.9 miles
This walk starts at the Coach and Horses Pub in Chelwood Common near Danehill in East Sussex. It is a fairly gentle walk which includes lots of pretty lanes, woodland, fields and a bit of road walking – making it very varied.
4.76km – 2.9 miles
This walk starts from Horsham Town Centre and takes you through Chesworth Farm, before bringing you back across Denne Park. Ending up back in Horsham centre, there is plenty of choice for a post-walk coffee/snack!
5km – 3.1 miles
For a lovely stroll along the canal, Loxwood is a great choice. There is plenty of parking at the Loxwood Canal Centre, postcode: RH14 0RD, near the Onslow Arms.
Variable Distances
This walk starts in the beautiful village of Lurgashall by the Noahs Ark pub. It takes you through woodland, orchards and fields and then back up a lane which brings you out adjacent to the pub.
3.73 km- 2.31 miles
This walk takes you around the beautiful Sandgate Country Park and through the Sandgate woods. This is the perfect walk if you have children, as it is all off road, and has the ‘Fairy Bridges’ to walk across, and streams to play in.
2.5km – 1.5 miles
This walk takes you around the picturesque Swanbourne Lake, and then up past the Hiorne Tower and back down through Arundel town centre, where there are plenty of spots to grab some refreshments or an ice-cream!
4.7km – 2.9 miles
This walk is perfect if you just want a quick wander and easy free parking. It takes you on a circular walk around Wiggonholt Heath, allowing you to explore the healthland and spot the variety of wildlife that live there.
2.5km – 1.6 miles
This walk starts on the South Downs Way and takes you on a short loop heading south off the South Downs Way, then east briefly before heading north and re-joining the South Downs Way. There are plenty of spectacular views across the South Downs National Park and this is usually a very quiet route.
