Ditchling Beacon & Jack and Jill Windmill Walk, South Downs Way
Difficulty – Easy
The South Downs are a wonderful way to spend a day and Ditchling Beacon is a top place to enjoy panoramic views. Ditchling Beacon is the third-highest point on the South Downs Way.
One walk we like to enjoy is to park at the Jack and Jill windmills just off Mill Lane. From the car park, head left out of the car park entrance and follow the South Downs Way signs which are easily visible. This will eventually take you over to Ditchling Beacon, past the famous dew pond on your right-hand side and to Ditchling Beacon car park.
You may be able to get a coffee and snack on weekends from Sussex Coffee Trucks to keep you going, which can usually be found at Ditchling Beacon car park itself (you can’t miss it – it’s bright yellow!). Check out their website for more details, as he has lots of locations that he appears at.
You can carry on the South Downs Way from here along the ridge and you can just turn around when you want to get back to the car park at the windmills.
Alternatively, you can park at Ditchling Beacon car park itself and walk westwards over to the windmills from here or just wander where you wish or even go for a jog or cycle ride along the top of the ridge!
