If you are looking for easy-to-get-to Sussex walks from London, we have put together a few of our favourites!
Our walks can easily be followed on Komoot (you can sign up for a free account and unlock one free region if you need navigation on), and we also share highlights from some of our walks on our Instagram page.
Lewes – Blackcap Circular Walk
Lewes is easily accessible from London, with direct trains departing from London Victoria at around an hour in length.
The walk takes you along the River Ouse and over to the village of Offham. The walk then ascends and heads past a beacon brazier and over to Blackcap, where there are panoramic views across Sussex.
The walk is around 12.5km in length, so easily be combined with some lunch in the centre of Lewes and a wander around the town after!
Hassocks and Ditchling Circular Walk
Hassocks can be reached from London Victoria in just under an hour.
The walk is 10.8km or 6.7 miles long and takes you along the South Downs Way.
The walk starts by walking along a flat woodland path alongside the railway line, and then winds up to the South Downs and the Jack and Jill Windmills.
You then descend into Ditchling, which is about 3/4 of the way along the walk. Ditchling is a pretty Sussex village, where you can enjoy some lunch, either a packed lunch, or a cafe such as the Green Welly cafe, or pub.
Don’t forget to check out the orchard as you walk past!
The walk then brings you past another windmill and then back to Hassocks.

Lewes Golf Course Circular Walk
This a lovely 6km or 3.7 mile circular walk which starts and ends in Lewes town centre. The walk takes you onto the Lewes Downs and around Lewes Golf Course where there are some spectacular panoramic views across Sussex.
Once back in Lewes there are plenty of options for some refreshments – we opted for The Sip which is a great little cafe serving food made from scratch in their kitchen. We opted for the tuna open toastie which was delicious!
